The surroundings
Villajoyosa, La Vila Joiosa in Valencian, is a fishing town with an old centre of brightly painted houses on the beach. It is known for its chocolate factories and has a harbour, a long promenade and the town beach Playa Centro. Benidorm is 8 km away, Alicante 30 km. The tram to Alicante and Benidorm stops in the town. The regional hospital Marina Baixa is in Villajoyosa itself. Alicante airport is about 40 km away.
Villajoyosa lies between Benidorm and Altea and is known for its colourful old town and its artisan chocolate tradition. The beaches carry the Blue Flag. Within walking distance are the restaurants of the old town, the weekly local market and the TRAM station that connects the whole Costa Blanca coastline.
